This entry is just as wonderful as all you others, in fact, as you've gone along, each entry has reflected a different slant to your experiences, and each one is so different!

Fascinating that you didn't care for Gaudi, he was as much the "darling" of "different architecture" at the time as Frank Geary is to "Deconstructivism" today.

Thanks for the compliment about my paella! Your ...Oh My Goodness Jonathan, what a lovely post. Your trip sounds like a fairy tale, where the prince (namely you) is destined to live happily ever after. I have a feeling even if you were to be stranded in one place for the rest of your life, that these wonderful experiences traveling to different countries and seeing different life cultures, that you would have enough to sustain you for the rest of you life. But, I have another feeling too. That you will have set into place a lifelong desire to travel and will do whatever it takes to make it happen again and again.

I have seen pictures of the Sony Business Park, and I wish I could have been with you to see it in person. It seems like an architectural gem. Steve and I had a great time in Paris and I'm sure you will too. I am very delighted that you are making friends along the way and have been so open to spontaneous discovery. The artist colony sounds like it should be in a movie. I'm looking forward to seeing pictures.

Steve and I saw "The Dark Night" which we both really liked. He may have even understood it in German. But for me, there was so much to look at on the screen, I would have missed half of it by reading the subtitles. If you liked it and want to see it again in English, maybe we can go when you return to Seattle.

Our remodeling project is nearly complete. Can't wait for you to see it when you you get back. Michael left for Japan on Monday, which was bittersweet, but we got our furniture moved back in Tuesday and I have been plenty busy getting things put back into place.

You sure have gone far and have been far gone. Thank you for blogging about your trip. It has really been fantastic to read about your journeys.

We love and miss you,
Mom, Steve and Lolo

Bon Voyage!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7119089732844569170.post-64324500760571969652008-08-29T20:51:00.000-07:002008-08-29T20:51:00.000-07:00Wow Jono! I feel like I'm getting your money's worth just by reading it. Way to live it up as an international man of mystery.

I can't help but notice how different the prices are in Europe compared to SE Asia. Living in one place, you get used to thinking of the price of goods as "what things are worth", but when you're travelling to places with radically different standards of wealth and having comparably amazing (for lack of a better word) experiences, prices become a much more arbitrary thing. Also, as I'm sure you already knew, the human connections that you make with other people are free and among the most rewarding things you can gain from travelling.

Holding down the fort here - your car needed a new battery and more radiator fluid. Also, I had the tires rotated and the oil changed.

Maika wants to know if you want to come out to Japan again this December, but I told her you would probably be busy with school. Still, the invite is open.

Start firing up that Gift of Gab, get invited to someone's house, meet some locals.

Love MikeMikehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05328833413987801570noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7119089732844569170.post-81161159985600885022008-08-18T15:54:00.000-07:002008-08-18T15:54:00.000-07:00Awesome time in Italy! However, this might also mean I have nothing better to do than sit by the computer all day. I wish it were the case. With this remodel (going on week 6 of 8), I have been staying away from the house with Lolo. I have decided that anyone who lets Cute Little Doggies into their place of business, will have me as a loyal customer, otherwise, no dice. It has been an especially hot day, and after walking at the Arboritum and in Madison Park, Miss Lolo was plum tuckered out. Driving around for 5 hours with the air conditioning on left a bigger carbon footprint than I'm happy about, I wish I could find a movie theater that allowed dogs. We are both hot and spent.

Decided I'm going to use a new acronym to describe a day like today: R O S ( was that ridiculously oversized sunglasses? or M O S for major oversized sunglasses) Either way, your description was cute and made me laugh. If I check you blog for accuracy, I will lose this entry.

Wish we were meeting you in Florence instead of slugging it out with this remodel. (Other than the English language being spoken more) What kind of places are you staying? How's the weather? How are the tourists during the last few weeks of summer season? Who have you met? How's the food? Have you been to more or less museums without Dad? I'm assuming you've been to less temples, but have you seen any churches?
